The White Horse Fleet
Welcome aboard White Horse Boats, operating from Devizes Wharf in Wiltshire. We aim to be the best value narrowboat holiday on the Kennet & Avon Canal.
We are very proud of our fleet of seven narrowboats:-
Moonfleet, Moonshine & Moonstruck: 57′ 4-6 berth holiday hire narrowboats.
Moonraker: 47′ 2-4 berth holiday hire narrowboat.
Dayhire: Our dayhire boats are Moondancing, Moongazing & Moonlighting. These are 35′ Dayhire narrowboats for 2-10 people and up to 4 dogs.

All our holiday hire boats have central heating, cooker, fridge, toilet, shower, TV/DVD player with media ports/USB, and 240 volt mains inverter for phone/laptop chargers etc. Crockery, cutlery, glassware, pots/pans, toilet rolls and hand soap are provided. We include gas for cooking and one pet is free on our boats (additional pets also welcome but each £25 extra). Bikes and canoes can come with you to store on the roof of the boat if you wish, but don’t forget to bring security locks and protective blankets for our roofs!
To keep our prices as competitive as possible we do not provide towels and bedding (but we do offer bedding and/or towel pack at an extra cost- see FAQs). So don’t forget to bring your own towels, duvets/sleeping bags, pillows and bed linen.
Our holiday boats are available through to late November. Our dayboats are available from early March to October half term inclusive. We do not hire in the winter months due to the hazards associated with the canal freezing over and the towpath being icy.

Our boats are moored at Devizes Wharf (SN10 1EB, follow brown tourist signs “Wharf Centre”). Find us in Google Maps; we moor behind the Wharf Theatre and are close to the Kennet & Avon Canal Museum and Cafe.

From the Wharf Car park, drive into the Wharf Theatre car park and turn right to where the boats are moored. You can unload here, straight onto your boat.

Once you’ve unloaded your belongings onto the boat you have three options:-
PUBLIC ‘Pay & Display’ parking in the Wharf Car Park (SN10 1EB). £6 per day – and/or hourly charges. This is convenient as it is close to the boats and has the advantage of being directly behind Devizes Police Station!
RESERVED parking spaces at the nearby Devizes Rugby Club, a short walk (500m) away. Pre-bookable with us only at £10/Weekend Break. £15/Mid Week Break or £30/per Week. Rugby Club Directions & Parking MAP
Limited FREE on-street parking available near the wharf. Obviously this is subject to availability and entirely at your own risk.

We are passionate about our boating and will share as much of our boating knowledge with you as we can during handover. Our Hirers Manual is comprehensive and is emailed to you when you book (we also give you a printed copy when you board). We also recommend downloading the Canal and River Trust’s excellent The Boaters Handbook here.

Very occasionally the CRT need to make emergency repairs to locks or bridges. Before booking you may wish to check for any that may affect your holiday via this link canalrivertrust.org.uk/notices

We do not provide any personal or cancellation insurance but of course our boats are fully insured. If you need travel insurance we suggest that you contact Guest First, travel insurance specialists.

Short breaks or weekly hire: Full payment, or 25% deposit with balance eight weeks prior to hire date. For bookings made within 8 weeks of the hire date, payment in full is required.
Please note: Prices exclude a refundable damage & fuel deposit of £200. This is payable two weeks prior to the boat hire by the web payment link emailed, or by phone/BACS and is refundable on the boat’s return in a clean condition with inventory intact and fuel deducted. The balance of your deposit will be refunded within two working days, or as soon as possible.
